ABC "Teen Perspective" News - January 2010
In the video above, you can watch me (Mikella) anchor ABC's Teen Perspective News. This is the January 2010 show.
I'm a teen reporter for WMAR-ABC 2 News in Maryland. I cover a lot of different local events for ABC including stories on teen unemployment rates, teen volunteers, teen musicians, teen safety and the legendary annual high school football traditions (Poly vs. City and the Turkey Bowl).
In this newscast, we focused on Haiti: the hard facts, and the relief effort going on worldwide and throughout many high schools in Maryland.
My story is on Jack & Jill: An African-American mother's organization that brings children ages 2-19 together. They worked this winter to organize and volunteer at a Hats, Mittens, and Gloves drive in downtown Baltimore for people who are less fortunate.

I know it's pretty late right now, but in Dallas everybody's probably just heading out to the clubs now.

Drake was one of the Assistant Coaches in the 2010 NBA All Star Celebrity Game in Dallas, TX.
He was pretty quiet during the game, giving high fives and staying chill.

Ballroom Dancing
I got to learn how to ballroom dance.
We covered Cha Cha, Tango, Swing, Hustle, and Waltz all in a 4-day week.
Prettttttty good. At the end we had a showcase in the hallways of our school.
Throwback to the Summer
An old pic of me and Tyler Nelson from MTV's "Take the Stage".
I got to meet him in New York back in July while I was there for an NAACP convention.
He was busy dancing and speaking at the award show, but he used to compete as a dancer in the African American Cultural Technological and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO). In 2009, ACT-SO was in NY, 2008 it was in Orlando, and this year it will be in Missouri City. Can't wait!!!!

Gilman beats Park 44-41
Park Boys' Fresh-Soph basketball team played a good game today against Gilman. I did the scorebook and recorded all the fouls and points. Park hit a lot of 3 pointers, but in the end Gilman won with a 3 point lead. Gilman used all of their time outs and Park used the majority of ours. Good teamwork Park, better luck next time. Love you guys!!!
